I got to the beach today at around 11am to find a small one foot clean swell, not worth getting in for, so drove up to the estuary to see if there was any wind there. As usual, Ynyslas was was doing its thing. Everywhere else the wind was about 5 knots, but at Ynyslas the wind was funnelling down the Dovey Estuary and was a steady 15-20 knots. It wasn't all good though as the tide was out and there just wasn't enough water in the estuary for windsurfing.

So, I walked across the dunes to the sea front to see what was happening there. The wind here was only about 12 knots, so I decided to drive to the Golf Course Car Park and go kite-mountainboarding from there.

It was OK on the dry hard-packed sand in the sunshine, but by the time the wind had got over the dunes it was very gusty. At times my 4.9m Blade was pulling me off my feet even whilst it was directly overhead, at other times it would hardly fly. and once on the mt. board you had to keep your wits about because as soon as you went into the lee of a big dune there would be no power, only for it to switch back on again a second later!!

It was good to be out in the fresh air though.
